Houston’s Lewis, Temple’s Clinton Secure Women’s Basketball Awards For Week 11

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 7.
 
Player of the Week
Jazmaine Lewis * So. * F * Houston
Lewis posted an efficient outing for Houston on the road during a 64-56 victory at Tulsa on Feb. 3, scoring 12 points on 71.4 percent shooting (5-of-7) in 27 minutes of action. Lewis added nine rebounds (three offensive), two blocked shots and a steal to her stat line. She scored six of her points during a two-minute stretch at the end of the third quarter to help Houston take the lead from the Golden Hurricane before chipping in three rebounds in the fourth quarter to cement the win.
 
Freshman of the Week
Jasha Clinton * Fr. * G * Temple
Clinton averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in a 2-0 Temple week, which included road victories at Cincinnati on Feb. 3 and at Wichita State on Feb. 6. Clinton opened the week with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting (.538) with eight boards and five assists in the victory at Cincinnati before adding 16 points, five assists and a steal in the win against Wichita State.

Averaged a double-double with 13.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last week for Wichita State; logged 14 points, 13 rebounds and five assists against Tulane and scored 12 points with seven boards and three assists against Temple
