IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 7.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jalen Campbell * Jr. * M * Temple
Campbell enjoyed a great season debut for Temple against USF on Feb. 6, scoring two goals for the Owls in a 3-2 victory over the Bulls in Tampa, Florida. Campbell notched the first Temple goal of the season unassisted at the 30:07 mark to tie the match at 1-1. With the contest again tied 2-2 in the 70th minute, Campbell buried his second goal of the night for the 3-2 Owls lead at 69:03. All three of Campbell’s shots in the game were ultimately on goal.
Defensive Player of the Week
Thomas Haney * Jr. * D * SMU
Haney played a key role on the backline for No. 8 SMU in a 2-0 clean sheet win for the Mustangs at Memphis on Feb. 6, helping limit the Tigers to four shots on frame and scoring the insurance goal late in the contest. Haney’s only shot attempt found the back of the net in the 73rd minute when he finished off a feed from midfielder Knut Ahlander at 72:07 for the 2-0 SMU advantage. The strong play of the Mustang defense prevented Memphis from notching a single shot on goal during the first half.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Lucas Cline * Jr. * GK * Tulsa
Cline was called upon to make two saves in a 1-0 shutout of No. 10 UCF by Tulsa in a conference upset to open the season on Feb. 6. Cline split one save between the first and second halves, respectively, keeping the dynamic Knights offense off the scoreboard for the first time in a regular-season match since Oct. 12, 2018.
Rookie of the Week
Alex Meinhard * R-Fr. * F * Tulsa
Meinhard made his presence felt early in his debut for Tulsa in the ninth minute against No. 10 UCF on Feb. 6, depositing the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory. Meinhard headed home a feed from defender Mitchell Cashion into the right side of the net at 8:59 for his first career goal and the lone score of the match. Meinhard finished with a conference-high five total shot attempts, including three on goal.

Registered three saves over the full 90 minutes, stopping all three shots he faced on goal over the final 25 minutes in a 2-0 clean sheet for No. 8 SMU against Memphis on Feb. 6

Tallied first career goal and helped limit Memphis to just seven shots and four attempts on goal in a 2-0 win for No. 8 SMU on Feb. 6

Logged a pair of saves in first NCAA start, turning aside USF on two shot attempts in the first half of a 3-2 comeback win for Temple on Feb. 6

Scored the first USF goal of the season in the fifth minute and registered two shots on goal in 66 minutes of a 3-2 setback against Temple on Feb. 6
