Temple’s Lindgren, UCF’s Moravec Recognized As Top Volleyball Players From Week Three

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s volleyball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 7.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Tyler Lindgren * Jr. * S * Temple
Lindgren enjoyed a solid all-around week for Temple from the setter position in a pair of straight set sweeps against Coppin State and St. John’s, averaging 11.67 assists per set (third in the conference) during a .267 hitting week (second in the conference) for the Owls to go along with 2.83 digs per set. Lindgren logged a double-double with 33 assists and 13 digs in the win against Coppin State on Feb. 5 and recorded 37 assists and four digs to go along with 3.5 points in three sets against St. John’s on Feb. 6.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Nerissa Moravec * R-Sr. * MB * UCF
Moravec was dominant at the net for 2-0 UCF in a nonconference series against Tulane, logging a conference-high 1.88 blocks per set and 15 overall blocks for the weekend. She chipped in a .478 hitting percentage and 2.56 points per set for the Knights in the wins. Moravec was a part of 10 total blocks (two solo) and hit .538 against Tulane on Feb. 6 after registering five block assists in the series opener against the Green Wave on Feb. 5.

Ranked third in the conference with 5.06 points per set and fourth with 4.75 digs per set in a pair of double-doubles for 2-0 SMU against UTSA; hit .407 with 13 kills and 13 digs on Feb. 4 before logging 25 kills and 25 digs in five sets on Feb. 5
 
Sophia Rohling * So. * RS * Wichita State
Averaged 4.00 points per set and hit .426 for the week to rank sixth in The American for 2-0 Wichita State in a sweep of North Texas; hit .609 with no attack errors and 14 kills in straight sets on Feb. 4 before logging 12 kills, five digs and three block assists on Feb. 5
 
McKenna Melville * Jr. * OH * UCF
Led all American players with 6.50 points per set and ranked 11th with a .324 hitting percentage in a UCF two-match sweep of Tulane; hit .333 with 21 kills and eight digs on Feb. 5 and turned in 26 kills and nine digs at a .318 clip on Feb. 6
 
Sydney Kleinman * Sr. * OH * East Carolina
Ranked fifth in The American with 4.75 points per set and ninth with 3.50 digs per set in East Carolina’s season debut win over North Carolina A&T on Feb. 5; notched a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs on .281 hitting
 
Kailea Carrier * R-So. * RS * Cincinnati
Logged the fifth-best hitting percentage at .429 and was eighth with 3.75 points per set for Cincinnati in a four-set win against Xavier on Feb. 5; closed the match with 13 kills and three total blocks (one solo)
