IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clarissa Larisey, Sr., F, Memphis
Larisey scored a brace in the Tigers’ 2-0 win over Tulsa on Feb. 24. It was the senior forward’s seventh multi-goal game of her career.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kimberley Smit, Jr., D, Memphis
Smit led the Tiger defense that only allowed two shots on goal in a 2-0 shutout of Tulsa on Feb. 24.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Sydney Martinez, Jr., USF
Martinez recorded three saves in a shutout of Florida on Feb. 27, a 0-0 draw. It was the junior’s third consecutive clean sheet.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Róisín McGovern, D Temple
McGovern scored the game-tying goal against East Carolina in a 1-1 draw on Feb. 28 and aided the defense in limiting the Pirates to one goal.
