Wichita State’s Barnard, USF’s Corrick Named Week 3 Softball Winners

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 28.
 
Player of the Week
Addison Barnard * Fr. * IF * Wichita State
Barnard enjoyed an explosive week for 3-0 Wichita State in a sweep of Creighton, batting .556 with three home runs, eight RBI and a 1.778 slugging percentage. Barnard drove in three runs in game one against Creighton on Feb. 27 before going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a triple and five RBI in the nightcap against the Blue Jays.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Jr. * RHP * USF
Corrick claimed top pitcher of the week accolades for the second straight week after posting a 1-1 mark with a save in a series win against Florida Atlantic, logging a 0.41 ERA and 37 strikeouts in just 17.0 innings pitched. Corrick held FAU batters to a mere .133 batting average for the series. She also added two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored at the plate against the Owls. She struck out 17 in a complete-game two-hit win on Feb. 27 before punching out 17 more batters in eight full innings of a hard-luck loss in game two of a Feb. 28 doubleheader.

Threw 8.1 shutout innings in appearances against No. 21 Missouri and McNeese State; spun a two-hit shutout with two walks and six strikeouts on 109 pitches against McNeese State on Feb. 26

Batted .500 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored against No. 21 Missouri and in a weekend sweep of McNeese State; drove in three runs against Missouri on Feb. 24 and ripped three hits in game one with McNeese on Feb. 26
 
Bailey Lange * Sr. * LHP * Wichita State
Turned in a 2-0 weekend with an 0.58 ERA during a weekend sweep of Creighton; tossed a four-hit shutout with one walk and eight strikeouts against the Blue Jays on Feb. 28
 
Logyn Estes * Fr. * RHP * East Carolina
Shined at the plate with a .571 batting average over four games for 3-1 East Carolina last week; enjoyed consecutive multi-hit games against Charlotte (Feb. 24) and in both games of a doubleheader with Ohio (Feb. 27)
 
Sarah Queen * R-Jr. * IF * Houston
Batted .429 with four extra-base hits, four RBI and five runs scored in a 4-2 Houston week; went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in game two of a doubleheader against Sam Houston State on Feb. 24
