DURHAM, N.C. – Connor Norby's three-run home run in the sixth inning broke a five-all tie and lifted No. 14 East Carolina to a 11-5 win over Duke Tuesday afternoon at Goodman Field inside the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. With the win the Pirates improve to 10-2 on the season, while the Blue Devils dropped to 6-6.
Norby's fourth homer of the season highlighted a four-run frame where ECU took a 9-5 lead. Ben Newton and Ryder Giles both registered consecutive singles before coming around on Norby's long ball. The Pirates would tack on another run on Alec Makarewicz' ground out that plated Thomas Francisco.
C.J. Mayhue (1-1) earned the win in relief working three scoreless frames with four strikeouts, one walk and allowed one hit. Carter Spivey, who started his second game of the season against Duke, allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits with a walk and a strikeout in 1.2 innings. On a staff day, the Pirates used Trystan Kimmel (1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 K), A.J. Wilson (0.2 IP, 1 R, 1 K), Matt Bridges (1.2 IP, 1 K), Nick Logusch (0.1 IP, 2 BBs) and Giles (0.2 IP, 1 K).

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University Baseball Team (6-6) won 6-0 against Southern University (4-7) Tuesday night inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Tulane pitchers struck out a season-high 16 batters while only allowing three hits and got big hits when it mattered in the team's first shutout victory of the season.
Sophomore Tyler Hoffman (1-1) took the hill for the Green Wave and worked a stellar five innings, allowing no runs on two hits and recorded a career-high eight strikeouts. Freshman Khristian Paul started for Southern and threw one scoreless inning.
Tulane got on the board first in the bottom of the third thanks to an RBI single by centerfielder Jared Hart that scored Simon Baumgardt from second. Hart and freshman Bennett Lee came in to score later in the inning on a Chase Engelhard groundout and a Southern error respectively.
The Green Wave extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth on a Collin Burns double that scored Hart all the way from first. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Hart ripped an RBI single to right to plate Logan Stevens. Burns then scored Hart with an RBI single of his own to put the Wave up 6-0.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Early offensive opportunities kept the Tigers at pace with No. 2 Vanderbilt on Tuesday, but the Vanderbilt offense continued to fire on all cylinders, as the Tigers fell on the road 10-4.
The Tigers (4-6) had chances in each of the first three innings against RHP Christian Little (ND), but came up empty in the first two frames. Behind 3-0 after two, the Tigers got to Little and knocked him out of the game before he completed the inning. Braden Webb led off with a single and advanced to third on a base hit from Ian Bibiloni. Hunter Goodman put Memphis on the board with a sacrifice fly, while consecutive two-out RBI singles from Alec Trela and Taylor Howell tied the game 3-3.
Carson Stinnett (L, 2-2) posted a shutdown inning in the third but saw the Commodores score in the fourth and fifth innings. Vanderbilt (10-1) took the lead in the fourth on an RBI single from Jayson Gonzalez, a lead the home team didn't relinquish. The No. 2 ranked team in the nation followed with a three-run fifth and knocked Stinnett out of the game. The Memphis starter allowed seven runs, only two earned, over 4.2 innings.

Jacksonville, Fla. – The UCF baseball team traveled to Jacksonville, Fla. on Wednesday night, earning a shutout win in the first of four games against UNF. The Knights threw six pitchers in the midweek shutout, combining to allow just three hits and strikeout six UNF batters.
Pablo Ruiz got the scoring started with a two-run shot in the second inning, and the Knights never looked back. UCF added another in the third after a Matt Archer triple, followed by Gephry Pena driving him in with a single.
Highlighted by his second big fly of the season, Josh Crouch launched a two-run home run to get a three-run sixth inning started. Alex Freeland broke the game open with a bases loaded double in the eighth, which was followed up by a Conor Allen sac fly and John Montes RBI-single before the inning was finished.
Kenny Serwa made his UCF debut with a 3.0 IP performance, allowing a single hit and picking up two strikeouts in the contest. Five guys came out of the bullpen to toss a scoreless inning before passing the torch to the next. Nolan Lepkoske earned the win, striking out one and walking one.
Houston 13, Incarnate Word 7 - Box Score
SAN ANTONIO – Houston pushed across five runs in two different innings and totaled 15-plus hits for the third time this season while holding off Incarnate Word, 13-7 on Wednesday night at Sullivan Field.
Incarnate Word (3-2) battled back after Houston (8-4) scored five runs in the first inning, tying the game at five-all and again at six-all before the Cougars unloaded for five in the eighth inning highlighted by RBI-base hits from Steven Rivas (1-for-5), Ryan Hernandez (3-for-4), Will Pendergrass (2-for-5) and Ian McMillan (2-for-5).
The Cougars batted around in the first inning, pushing across five runs including a three-run, first-pitch home run from Hernandez, who registered a career-high four RBIs. The five runs chased UIW starter Brandon Troxler from the contest.
Blake Schultz allowed four runs, all earned, in 4.2 innings. The right-hander fanned six, walked a pair and permitted five hits, including two home runs. Deese (1-1) earned his first victory as a Cougar, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two in 2.1 innings.
