Temple Takes Two Weekly Women's Lacrosse Honors as Owls Move Into Top 20

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending March 14.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Meghan Hoffman • Sr. • Temple • Fallston, Md.

Hoffman scored five goals and had seven assists in a 2-0 week that helped move Temple into the national top-20. She figured in eight of the Owls’ 12 goals (5g, 3a) in a 12-8 win against No. 11 Towson, figuring in four goals as part of the 5-0 run that effectively put the game away. She added a game-high four assists in an 11-10 overtime win against Saint Joseph’s, including two key feeds in the final seven minutes of regulation.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Alyssa Adams • M • Sr. • Cincinnati • York, Pa.

Adams helped to deliver two wins for Cincinnati as the Bearcats topped Robert Morris (16-7) and Central Michigan (15-11). She scored a game-high four goals and had two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover against the Colonials and added a game-high four goals with a ground ball, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers against the Chippewas. Adams has scored 20 goals this season and leads The American with 3.3 goals per game.

Hecht helped Temple to a 2-0 week as the Owls averaged 9.0 goals allowed in wins against No. 11 Towson and Saint Joseph’s. She registered 10 saves against Towson, including seven in the first half, which allowed Temple to build a 7-3 halftime lead on the way to a 12-8 victory. She added 11 stops in an 11-10 double-overtime win against Saint Joseph’s, including a key save in the final minute of the first overtime period.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Lauren Carey • D • Fr. • Old Dominion • Chester Springs, Pa.

Carey was a bright spot in the Monarchs’ loss to a Richmond squad that is ranked No. 18 nationally this week. She registered four ground balls and had one caused turnover and will enter conference play this weekend as the team leader with 18 ground balls.

Scored three goals with seven ground balls, 14 draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 2-0 week; scored the game-winning goal on a free position in an 11-10 double-overtime win against Saint Joseph’s.
