IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, March 21.
Player of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Jr. * RHP * USF
Corrick was the top performer for USF during a three-game series sweep of North Dakota, fashioning a 2-0 pitching record with a .077 batting average against, no runs allowed and a .333 batting average with three RBI and a pair of runs scored. Corrick spun five two-hit innings with no walks and nine strikeouts to open the series on March 19. Playing in the outfield and as the designated player in game two on March 20, she went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. In the series finale on March 21, Corrick tossed her second solo no-hitter with two walks and 13 strikeouts in a 2-0 USF victory.
Pitcher of the Week
Samantha Pochop * Jr. * RHP * Tulsa
Pochop stood tall in the circle during a 4-1 Tulsa tournament weekend, recording a 2-0 record with a spotless ERA in two starts for the Golden Hurricane. She yielded just eight hits and two walks over 13.0 innings pitched in limiting opponents to a .170 batting average against, striking out 23 batters. Pochop went six four-hit innings with a walk and 12 strikeouts in a victory against South Dakota on March 19 and followed up with complete game four-hitter with 11 punchouts against North Dakota State on March 20.
Weekly Honor Roll
Bailey Lange * Sr. * LHP * Wichita State
Went 2-0 with a save and a 1.71 ERA for Wichita State in a 4-1 tournament week; threw a complete game with two earned runs allowed and three strikeouts in a win at No. 8/6 Oklahoma State on March 18 and surrendered one earned run and struck out 10 in a complete game win against UTSA on March 20
Neleigh Herring * Jr. * IF * Wichita State
Batted .467 with a .556 on-base percentage and four runs scored in a 4-1 Wichita State week; registered three total hits, an RBI and two runs against No. 8/6 Oklahoma State on March 18 and 20 and went 3-for-3 against UTSA on March 19
Kyndall Williams * Jr. * IF * USF
Hit .667 with a 1.222 slugging percentage and four runs in a 3-0 week for USF; went 2-for-3 in each game against North Dakota on March 19-20, scoring two runs in both of the first two games
Lanya Bates * Fr. * OF * Memphis
Recorded a .467 batting average four RBI and three runs in a 2-2 week for Memphis; had two multi-hit games against Louisiana Tech on March 20-21
