Houston, East Carolina And Temple See Athletes Recognized In Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s outdoor track & field honors, for the week ending Sunday, March 28.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Shaun Maswanganyi * Fr. * Houston

Maswanganyi repeated as The American top men’s track athlete for the second straight week following a standout showing in the 200-meter dash at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 25. Maswanganyi crossed the finish line with a time of 20.31 to set the top conference time of the season and rank third in the NCAA as of March 31.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Ryan Davis * Sr. * East Carolina
Davis enjoyed an impressive showing in the hammer throw and discus while competing at the Weems Baskin Relays on March 26. Davis secured the top hammer throw attempt in The American this season (fifth in the NCAA as of March 31) with a 68.99m (226-4.0) effort and added in the conference’s number two discus throw of 56.73m (186-1.0) during the meet.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Grace Moore * Sr. * Temple

Moore ran a sizzling time in the 5,000-meter run at the Raleigh Relays on March 25. She crossed the finish line with a time of 15:47.98 to set the fastest time in The American and the fifth-fastest time in the nation as of March 31.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Nora Monie * Sr. * Houston
Monie was the third-place finisher overall and the second-ranked collegian in the discus at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 25. Monie logged a top throw 55.81m (183-1.00), the best attempt thus far in The American and eighth in the NCAA this season as of March 31.
