IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the second week of the 2021 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Drew Brutcher, Fr., OF, USF
Brutcher aided the Bulls to a weekend sweep of previous-unbeaten Stetson by hitting .333 (5-15) for the week with three home runs, five runs scored and five runs driven in. Brutcher hit a home run in every game over the weekend, including a walk-off home run in the series finale.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jack Jasiak, R-Fr., RHP, USF
Jasiak earned the series-opening win against previously-unbeaten Stetson on Friday, March 5 by striking out 10 and allowed only two runs in 7.2 innings of work.
HONOR ROLL
Colton Gordon, R-So., LHP, UCF
Gordon tossed a complete-game gem against Liberty, allowing only five hits and two runs while recording 10 strikeouts.
Garrett Schoenle, Sr., LHP, Cincinnati
Schoenle struck out 11 batters in 5.0 innings of work with only two hits and one run allowed against UNCW.
Connor Norby, So., 2B, East Carolina
Norby hit .556 (10-18) with six runs scored, two home runs and six runs driven in over four games for the Pirates that included a sweep over Appalachian State.
Josh Hansell, Fr., RHP, Wichita State
Hansell earned the win for the Shockers against Oral Roberts with five innings of scoreless work with seven strikeouts and only one hit allowed.
Garrett Kocis, Jr., INF, Wichita State
Kocis hit .375 (6-16) with eight runs scored, five home runs and 13 runs driven in over a 4-0 week for the Shockers. He had a pair of games with two home runs against Dixie State over the weekend.
