Houston’s Cooke, Frederick Sweep Volleyball Weekly Awards In Week Seven

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s volleyball honors, for the week ending Sunday, March 7.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Annie Cooke * Fr. * S * Houston
Cooke played a major role for 2-0 Houston in a conference series sweep on the road at Tulsa, as the Cougars ranked second in The American with a .269 hitting percentage for the week. Individually Cooke ranked second in the league with 13.88 assists per set and added 3.38 digs per frame. She opened the series with the Golden Hurricane on March 5 with 58 assists to go along with 58 assists, four kills and seven digs. Cooke added 53 assists and 20 digs in a four-set win over Tulsa on March 6.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Torie Frederick * Jr. * L * Houston
Frederick was among the top liberos in The American for the week, pacing the conference with 52 total digs and 6.50 digs per set in a weekend series sweep at Tulsa. Frederick logged 32 digs across four sets in the opening win against the Golden Hurricane on March 5 and chipped in 20 digs the following day in a four-set winner on March 6.

Led The American with 14.25 assists per set as Temple led the conference with a .271 team hitting percentage in a four-set nonconference win against UConn on March 7; finished the match with 57 assists and 17 digs against the Huskies
 
McKenna Melville * Jr. * OH * UCF
Registered a pair of double-doubles in a weekend sweep of East Carolina for first place UCF; logged 13 kills and 15 digs in straight sets against the Pirates on March 5 before hitting .273 with 19 kills and 21 digs in four sets on March 6
 
Sabrina Bianco * Jr. * S * Memphis
Ranked fourth in The American with 11.67 assists per set for Memphis in a series sweep of Wichita State; recorded 50 assists and 22 digs in a five-set comeback against the Shockers on March 4 and posted 55 assists and 16 digs in a four-set victory on March 5
 
Kaylyn Winkler * Jr. * MB * SMU
Scored 3.06 points per set, hit .343 for the series and chipped in 1.62 blocks per set in a series split with Tulane; hit at a .438 clip with seven kills and six total blocks (two solo) in match one on March 4
 
Lexie Douglas * Sr. * OH * Tulane
Paced the conference with 6.00 points per set in a two-match split at SMU; hit .327 with 22 kills and 21 digs in a four-set win against the Mustangs on March 4
