IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors for the week-ending March 8.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valeriya Zeleva • Jr. • UCF • Moscow, Russia
Zeleva won a pair of matches at No. 1 singles, including a victory against the nation’s No. 15-ranked player, as No. 18 UCF took a 4-3 win against No. 24 Furman and a 7-0 decision against Florida Atlantic. Zeleva, who is ranked No. 67 in singles, took a 6-3, 6-4 win against the Palladins, picking up her fourth win against a ranked opponent this season. She followed with a 6-1, 7-5 decision against the Owls, earning her seventh straight singles win.
