IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryson Worrell, Jr., OF, East Carolina
Worrell helped lead the Pirates to a 4-0 sweep of Memphis by hitting .500 (6-12) with six runs, two doubles, two home runs and nine runs driven in. Coming into the weekend, the junior outfielder only had one home run and five RBI on the season.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jace Kaminska, Fr., RHP, Wichita State
Kaminska earned a complete-game win on Saturday, April 10, with seven strikeouts and only one run allowed. The right-hander gave up six hits and two walks in the 10-1 win over Houston.
HONOR ROLL
Jordan Rathbone, R-Sr., UTL, UCF
Rathbone scored seven runs and drove in seven more while hitting .471 (8-17) with a pair of doubles and a home run as UCF split 2-2 with Cincinnati.
Paul Komistek, Jr., OF, Cincinnati
Komistek hit .571 (8-14) with four runs, three doubles, a pair of home runs and six runs driven in as the Bearcats split the series with UCF, 2-2.
Dean McCarthy, Gr., LHP, Cincinnati
McCarthy went 1-0 in two outings last week, working 5.2 innings with only one run, two hits and a walk allowed while striking out seven batters.
Cam Colmore, R-Sr., RHP, East Carolina
Colmore made two appearances last week, going 1-0 in 4.1 innings of scoreless relief with six strikeouts and only three hits allowed.
Hunter Gibson, Jr., OF, Wichita State
Gibson hit .500 (8-16) in a four-game sweep of Houston with four runs, a double, a home run and eight runs driven in. The junior outfielder had at least one hit and one RBI in each of the four games.
