IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, April 11.
Player of the Week
Neleigh Herring * Jr. * IF * Wichita State
Herring batted .778, slugged 1.333 and reached base at an impressive .875 clip in a four-game sweep of Houston to vault Wichita State into the solo lead in The American standings. She logged two hits and scored one run in each of the first two games against the Cougars on April 9-10 and added a 3-for-4 effort with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the second game against Houston on April 10. Herring reached base in all four plate appearances in the series finale on April 11, drawing three walks while being hit by pitch once and scored two runs for the Shockers.
Pitcher of the Week
Alea White * R-Sr. * RHP * UCF
White went 2-0 with a 0.98 ERA in three appearances (two starts) for UCF in four wins at East Carolina in conference play. She limited the Pirates to a .200 batting average against, walking four while striking out 10 over 14.1 innings pitched. White spun 5.1 no-hit innings in relief with three walks and four strikeouts to earn the win in game on against ECU on April 9. She added a five-hit shutout with three punchouts in a Knights win on April 10.

Batted .455 with six RBI and three runs over a four-game UCF sweep at East Carolina; drilled a three-run home run and added an RBI double in a game two win against the Pirates on April 9
AnaMarie Bruni * Sr. * OF * USF
Finished with a .588 batting for USF over five games against No. 5 Florida and Tulsa; went 3-for-4 in both game two and game three of the series win against Tulsa on April 10
Georgina Corrick * Jr. * RHP * USF
Went 2-1 with a 2.52 ERA in three appearances for USF; allowed two hits and an unearned run with 12 strikeouts in a win against Tulsa on April 9 and scattered five hits over nine innings to defeat the Golden Hurricane in the series finale on April 10
Samantha Pochop * Jr. * RHP * Tulsa
Spun six innings and allowed two runs in a 7-2 Tulsa win over USF on April 10; yielded six hits and struck out seven Bulls in the victory
Sarah Queen * R-Sr. * IF * Houston
Hit .385 with five RBI and four runs in games against UL-Lafayette and Wichita State; logged two RBI in game three and game four against the Shockers on April 10-11
