IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s outdoor track & field honors, for the week ending Sunday, April 11.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Chris Borzor * So. * Cincinnati
Borzor raced to an event win in the 200-meter dash at the Tennessee Relays on April 8 in Knoxville, Tennessee. His time of 20.76 ranked second this season in The American and 30th nationally as of April 14.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Michael Bryan * Jr. * Wichita State
Bryan was dominant once more for Wichita State in the hammer throw, taking the title at the Wichita State Open on April 10 in Wichita State. Bryan’s dominant mark of 70.15m (230-2) extended the top throw in the American this season and ranked sixth in the NCAA as of April 14.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Ellie Leather * Jr. * Cincinnati
Leather shattered the Cincinnati program record in the 1500-meter run at the Tennessee Relays on April 8, finishing as the race runner-up with a time of 4:17.30. Her time paced all runners in The American and ranked 21st in the NCAA as of April 14.
 
Women’s Field Athletes of the Week
Mikaila Martin * Sr. * Houston
Martin re-wrote the Houston record in the hammer throw for the fourth time this season in a win at the Texas A&M Team Invitational in College Station, Texas. Martin’s top attempt of 66.71m (218-10) is the best throw in The American and ranked seventh in the NCAA this season as of April 14.
 
Trina Malej * Jr. * Tulane
Malej remained undefeated in the triple jump this season and established a Tulane program record by jumping 13.28m (43-7) at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Malej is The American leader this season and ranks eighth in the NCAA as of April 14.
