American Announces Revised Bracket for 2021 Women's Tennis Championship

04.20.21

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced a revised bracket for its 2021 Women’s Tennis Championship this week at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

The adjustment was made after Temple withdrew from the championship due to a positive COVID-19 test and the ensuing contact tracing with the program.

The new nine-team bracket will have one first-round match Thursday as No. 9 seeded Cincinnati faces No. 8-seeded USF. No. 7-seeded Wichita State, which had been slated to play a first-round match Thursday, will instead receive a first-round bye and will face No. 2-seeded SMU in Friday’s quarterfinals.

The women’s championship begins Thursday, April 22, and continues through the April 25 final. The winner of the women’s championship will earn The American’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships.

Seeds for the championships are determined by the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.

Complete coverage of The American Tennis Championships, including live scoring of each match, can be found on the conference’s Championship Central site. Live coverage of the women’s and men’s finals will be available on ESPN+.
