East Carolina 10, Wichita State 0 (Game 1 - 7 innings) - Box Score
WICHITA, Kan. – Gavin Williams didn't allow a run over six shutout innings with nine strikeouts in game one of a doubleheader and Jace Kaminska tossed a complete game in game two as No. 10 East Carolina (29-8, 11-3) and Wichita State (21-16, 9-8) split a pair of games Friday at Eck Stadium in American Athletic Conference action.

Williams (6-0) allowed five hits, walked two and fanned nine for his fifth-straight win as a starter in the Pirates 10-0 seven inning victory. Landon Ginn worked the seventh for the Pirates retiring all three batters he faced.

ECU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI bunt single by Zach Agnos. Connor Norby (double) and Thomas Francisco (single) put runners on the corners on the first three pitches of the game. With two outs, Agnos' squeeze bunt down the third base line plated Norby for the early lead.

Preston Snavely (3-4) suffered the loss allowing six runs (all earned) on eight hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts in three-plus innings. Creighton Hansen gave up two runs (both unearned) on three hits with a walk in two innings. Connery Peters (0.0 IP, 2 Rs, 2 BBs) and Cameron Bye (2.0 IP, 4 Ks) worked the final two frames.

Wichita State 12, East Carolina (Game 2 - 7 innings) - Box Score
Freshman right-hander Jace Kaminska improved to a perfect 5-0 on the mound in 2021 after pitching a seven-inning, complete-game – his second of the season – and allowing two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk on 107 total pitches.

Wichita State leaped out to a 2-0 advantage in game two after Bartlett smashed a two-run homer to left-center in the bottom of the first. It was his third round-tripper of the season.

The Pirates tied the contest, 2-2, with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, but the Shockers answered emphatically, scoring two in the bottom of the sixth when Gibson crushed a two-run shot to center, regaining a 4-2 lead. It was his third homer of 2021.

WSU wasn't done, as the Shockers blistered East Carolina with eight runs on eight hits in the seventh to end the game. All but one of Wichita State's runs in the inning occurred with no outs.

Memphis 12, UCF 2 (Game 1 - 7 innings) - Box Score
ORLANDO, Fla. – Facing extreme heat and humidity for the first time this season, the Memphis Tigers had their bats come alive in a doubleheader split with the UCF Knights. Memphis scored 12 unanswered runs and run-ruled the Knights in a 12-2, seven inning, game one victory. In game two, the Tigers fell behind 8-0 in the second inning, but consistently clawed back, got the go-ahead run to the plate in the ninth, but fell 12-10 despite seven UCF errors. Prior to Friday's doubleheader split, the Tigers had been swept in each of the previous three AAC doubleheaders.

Coming into the series after getting swept by Tulane at home and plating just seven runs across four games, Friday's opener started about as poorly as possible for the Tigers. UCF's first two batters of the game, Tom Josten and Jordan Rathbone, connected with back-to-back home runs off of Chris Durham (W, 3-5). Durham, who didn't make it out of the first inning in his start last weekend against Tulane, buckled in and ended up with one of his best starts of the season. Durham allowed just four more hits across seven innings and got credit for a complete game.

The Tigers got a run back in the second inning off of Kenny Serwa (L, 2-3) and took the lead on a two-run single from Ian Bibiloni in the third inning. Durham worked around a leadoff single in the third before the Tigers broke the game open in the fourth inning. The southpaw struck out five and didn't walk a batter over his seven-inning performance.

UCF 12, Memphis 10 (Game 2) - Box Score
In what would become a back-and-forth battle, UCF took the first lead in the contest thanks to the bats of Jordan Rathbone and Josh Crouch. On a 1-0 count, Rathbone slugged his second homer of the day and 10th of the 2021 season, which was followed up by Crouch with another homer to give UCF the early 2-0 lead.

Tom Josten and Gephry Pena also joined the home run party, each of them slugging three-run homers in the second inning to put the Knights up early in a big way, with an 8-0 lead.

The Tigers answered with three in the third, as the two teams began to trade runs in the middle of the game. UCF added another pair of runs thanks to back-to-back doubles from Alex Freeland and John Montes.

The Black and Gold plated another two important insurance runs in the seventh after Pablo Ruiz starts the inning with a triple and is driven in on another Alex Freeland RBI double. Freeland then plated a run on an Andrew Brait sac fly to deep center field.

Memphis added four runs in the sixth and another three in the eighth, taking advantage of errors from UCF's defense. But it was not enough as the Knights were able to hold off Memphis just long enough to secure the #SkinnerStrong Knight win.

Tulane 3, Houston 0 (Game 1) - Box Score
NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane baseball team extended its winning streak to 11 in game one of its doubleheader against Houston, taking down the Cougars 3-0 inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Friday.

Junior right-hander Braden Olthoff picked up the win for Tulane after recording a season-high 12 strikeouts over eight shutout innings. Graduate student Keagan Gillies earned his second save this season with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Freshman outfielder Jacob LaPrairie got the offense going for Tulane in the first inning, stealing second after singling to shortstop. Lee then kept it rolling with a single to third before a single to left field by Niemann drove in LaPrairie to put the Green Wave up, 1-0.

Lee had his third hit of the game with an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the seventh sending redshirt junior Trevor Minder home to put the Olive and Blue up 2-0. Freshman Chase Engelhard then walked with bases loaded for the Wave's final run.

Tulane 11, Houston (Game 2) - Box Score
The Tulane baseball team (23-13, 12-1 AAC) closes out a month of undefeated baseball with an 11-4 win over Houston (15-22, 3-11 AAC) in the team's second game of a doubleheader on Friday inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

Redshirt sophomore Collin Burns and freshman Chase Engelhard both hit one out of the park, each recording two hits while adding one and four respective RBI's. Freshman Bennett Lee and redshirt junior Luis Aviles also added two hits each and a combined two RBI's in the victory.

Redshirt junior Jack Aldrich (4-1) took the hill for the Green Wave and gave up three runs on eight hits while racking up seven strikeouts over five 5.1 innings of work. Redshirt junior Clifton Slagel (1-0) followed and picked up his first win this season, going 1.2 innings while giving up no runs or hits. Redshirt junior David Bates got the save after two scoreless innings.

USF 4, Cincinnati (Game 1) - Box Score
Cincinnati 5, USF 3 (Game 2) - Box Score
The USF Bulls (16-20, 6-8 AAC) returned to their home field on Friday for the first time in nearly a month, and came away with a doubleheader split against the Cincinnati Bearcats (20-19, 9-9 AAC) to open a four-game weekend series.

Dylan Burns (Vero Beach) and Orion Kerkering (Venice) combined for 10 strikeouts in the opener for a 4-2 USF victory. Cincinnati took control early in the nightcap and held off the Bulls in a 5-3 affair.

Game 1

The Bearcats jumped on Burns for a first inning run to begin the day, but the redshirt senior quickly flipped the script. With the final out of the first frame, where Burns escaped a bases-loaded jam, the right-hander proceeded to retire the next 12 batters he faced.

With Burns dealing, the USF offense got things going in the fifth inning against one of the top pitchers in the conference – southpaw Garrett Schoenle.

Daniel Cantu (Jacksonville) led off the inning with a walk, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Gonzalez (Tampa). Roberto Peña (Caracas, Venezuela) followed with a double, and two batters later, Carmine Lane (Lake Placid) chased home both runners with a clutch two-out single to give the Bulls a 2-1 advantage.

Clinging to a one-run lead in the top of the sixth, Burns was lifted for Kerkering with two outs and two on, and was picked up by his freshman teammate.

The Bulls doubled up their score in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI-triple by Cantu and a safety squeeze by Gonzalez.

Kerkering allowed one final run in the top of the seventh, but cruised for the remainder of the game to nail down his second save of the season.

Game 2
The Bearcats got another strong outing from starter Zach Segal and the offense scored four runs in the first five innings on the way to a 5-3 win over South Florida in the second game of a Friday doubleheader at USF Baseball Stadium.

Zach Segal (4-3) made his second-straight quality start, throwing 105 pitches over 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Dean McCarthy picked up his second save in 2.1 innings of work which featured five strikeouts.

Once again, Joey Bellini got the offense going with an RBI single in the first, scoring Jace Mercer who was hit by a pitch.

The Bearcats added two in the second after a leadoff single by Ryan Nicholson led to the first baseman scoring on an error following a stolen base. Cole Harting singled to right to score Griffin Merritt.

Paul Komistek had an RBI single in the third which scored Eric Santiago and Tanner Holen singled up the middle with two outs in the eighth and plated Santiago. Santiago finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
