East Carolina Sweeps Baseball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alec Makarewicz, Fr., OF/INF, East Carolina
Makarewicz led East Carolina to a 5-0 week hitting .429 (9-21) with six runs, a double, two home runs and seven RBI. He had the walk-off walk against North Carolina and also hit the go-ahead home run in the first game of a four-game series with Cincinnati.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Gavin Williams, Jr., RHP, East Carolina
Williams repeated as Pitcher of the Week after striking out 13 batters for the Pirates in a 7-0 shutout of Cincinnati on Friday. The right-hander only allowed four singles and three walks in 6.2 innings of work.
 
HONOR ROLL
Robert Gasser, Jr., LHP, Houston
Gasser struck out 12 batters in 7.2 scoreless innings of work with only two hits and three walks allowed in a Cougars’ 5-3 win over Wichita State on Thursday.
 
Collin Sullivan, R-Sr., RHP, USF
Sullivan led the Bulls to a 3-1 win over in-state rival UCF on Friday with by only allowing three hits and one unearned run in 8.2 innings with nine strikeouts.
 
Jacob LaPrairie, Fr., OF, Tulane
LaPrairie led the Green Wave to a 4-1 week by hitting .588 (10-17) with four runs, three runs driven in and four walks.
 
Jace Kaminska, Fr., RHP, Wichita State
Kaminska pitched seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts, five hits and only one walk in a 2-1 Shocker win over Houston on Friday.
 
Paxton Wallace, Jr., INF, Wichita State
Wallace aided the Shockers to a 3-1 series win over Houston by hitting .417 (5-12) with four runs, two home runs and three RBI. He had the go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth in Game 2 of the series and had the game-tying home run in the series finale on Saturday.
