IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, April 4.
Player of the Week
Sydney McKinney * Jr. * IF * Wichita State
McKinney claimed American Player of the Week honors for the second straight week after another hot weekend at the plate for Wichita State in a four-games sweep at Memphis. She batted a conference-high .714 (10-for-14) and added a home run, four RBI, three stolen bases and six runs against the Tigers. McKinney opened the series 3-for-4 with a home run, stolen base, two RBI and a pair of runs scored on April 1. She then added a pair of two-hit games with two total RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader sweep on April 2 before reaching base in all four plate appearances in the series finale, going 3-for-3 with two runs.
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Jr. * RHP * USF
Corrick earned top pitcher of the week accolades for the fourth time this season after blanking Houston in three appearances during a 3-1 weekend for USF. Corrick surrendered just six hits over 15 full innings against the Cougars, yielding no runs and five walks while striking out 26 batters. Houston batters finished at just a .118 clip with a lone extra-base hit against her for the series. Corrick opened the weekend with a four-hit shutout, two walks and 13 strikeouts in a 1-0 win on April 1. After striking out the side in a scoreless inning of relief in game two of the April 1 doubleheader, she added a two-hit shutout that featured three walks and 10 strikeouts to cap the series victory on April 3.

Picked up one win in the circle and batted .857 (6-for-7) during a series victory against No. 22/21 UCF; tossed six shutout innings and yielded only three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in a 5-1 win on April 1
