First-Place Florida, Vanderbilt Win Weekly Lacrosse Accolades

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 4.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brianna Harris • Sr. • Florida • Annapolis, Md.

Harris led all American Athletic Conference players with 12 points (7g, 5a) in Florida’s two wins against East Carolina. She scored five goals with two assists in the 20-9 victory Thursday to open the series, while she had two goals with three assists in Saturday’s 19-7 victory to complete the sweep. Harris improved her season totals to 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Shannon Kavanagh • Sr. • Florida • Smithtown, N.Y.

Kavanagh helped Florida to a pair of wins against East Carolina as she scored five goals, had three assists and had an American Athletic Conference-leading 10 draw controls as the Gators took 20-9 and 19-7 victories to improve to 6-0 in conference play. She had three goals with two assists, a ground ball, six draw controls and a caused turnover in Thursday’s series opener, while she had two goals, an assist and four draw controls in Saturday’s clincher. Kavanagh leads The American with 37 goals and is second in the conference with 48 points in 2021.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gunning led Vanderbilt to a pair of wins against Old Dominion as the Commodores limited the Monarchs to a combined seven goals in the two games. Gunning made 12 saves and allowed five goals in a 16-5 win Thursday before making seven stops with two goals allowed in a 19-2 victory Saturday, extending the Commodores’ winning streak to nine games. Gunning, who registered a .731 save percentage and a 3.82 goals-against average with five ground balls in the two games, leads The American with 9.54 saves per game in 2021.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Danielle Pavinelli • A • Fr. • Florida • Northport, N.Y.

Pavinelli scored five goals in two games to help Florida register a series sweep of East Carolina. She had a hat trick to go with two ground balls in Thursday’s 20-9 win in the series opener, while she followed with two goals in the Gators’ 19-7 victory in the second game. Pavinelli has scored 17 goals with five assists for 22 points in her freshman season for the 9-2 Gators.
