IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Gibson, Jr., DH, Wichita State
Gibson hit .500 (8-16) with four runs scored, a double, two home runs and eight runs driven in as the Shockers won 3-of-4 at UCF. The junior had multi-hit games in each of the three wins, including a four-hit, two-home run day in Friday’s second game.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Cam Colmore, R-Sr., RHP, East Carolina
Colmore appeared in all three wins for the Pirates as East Carolina won a pivotal series against Tulane and taking over first place in The American’s standings. Colmore shut the door in the first two games, finishing with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief over three appearances, scattering three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
HONOR ROLL
Jace Mercer, Gr., INF, Cincinnati
Mercer led the Bearcats to a 3-1 series win at Houston by hitting .556 (10-18) with four runs, five doubles and a pair of runs driven in.
Garrett Schoenle, Sr., LHP, Cincinnati
Schoenle earned a complete game victory in a 7-2 win in the first game at Houston with a pair of runs allowed with two walks and three strikeouts.
Josh Moylan, Fr., 1B/DH, East Carolina
Moylan helped push the Pirates back into first place by hitting .500 (7-14) with three runs scored and four RBI,
Joaquin Monque, Fr., C, USF
Monque hit .462 (6-13) with two runs scored and four runs driven in as the Bulls won 3-of-4 at Memphis.
Jace Kaminska, Fr., RHP, Wichita State
Kaminska earned the win in the second game against UCF with only one run allowed with five hits and six strikeouts in six innings of work.
