IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Roberto Peña, R-So., 2B, South Florida
Peña hit .533 last week as the Bulls split a four-game series at Wichita State, going 8-for-15 with five runs and five extra-base hits, including three doubles and two home runs. The redshirt sophomore, who hit safely in all four games, also drove in four runs over the weekend.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Robert Gasser, Jr., LHP, Houston
Gasser tossed a gem in the first game at Memphis on May 14, striking out 10 batters in seven innings while only allowing three hits and unearned run with no walks.
HONOR ROLL
C.J. Mayhue, Fr., LHP, East Carolina
Mayhue appeared in three games in the Pirates’ series win at Cincinnati, earning a pair of saves while only allowing a pair of hits with three walks in five innings of scoreless relief. The freshman left-hander struck out seven Bearcats.
Connor Norby, So., INF, East Carolina
Norby led the league with 10 hits last week, hitting .526 with five runs, a pair of doubles and a run driven in in the series win at Cincinnati.
Steven Rivas, Jr., OF, Houston
Rivas hit .444 (8-18) with three runs scored, a double, a triple, a home run and five runs driven in as the Cougars split a four-game series at Memphis.
Ian Bibiloni, R-Jr., OF, Memphis
Bibiloni hit .471 (8-17) for the Tigers in a 2-2 split with Houston, scoring four runs with three doubles, a home run and six RBI.
Collin Burns, R-So., SS, Tulane
Burns aided the Green Wave to a 3-1 series win against UCF by hitting .389 (7-18) with four runs, two doubles, a grand slam and five runs driven in.
