IRVING, Texas – American Athletic Conference women’s rowing champion SMU has earned two of the highest seeds in conference history for the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championships, to be held May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla. SMU is one of 22 programs competing for the national title.
The Mustangs have been seeded No. 10 in the Varsity 8, the highest seed in that event in The American’s history, and seeded No. 9 in the Second Varsity 8, which is the highest seed for any event at the national regatta in league history. SMU is also seeded No. 16 in the Varsity 4 event.
SMU captured the American Athletic Conference crown by sweeping the events at the 2021 conference regatta on May 16 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The highest finish by a program from the American Athletic Conference at the NCAA Rowing Championships is 17
th by Louisville in 2014.
