Five American Athletic Conference players - including four from league champion Florida - were chosen to the IL Women Media All-America Teams.
Florida midfielder Shannon Kavanagh and defender Cara Trombetta were named First Team All-Americans, while Gators goalie Sarah Reznick found herself on the second team. Defender Kaitlyn Dabkowski of Florida and defender Courtney Taylor of Temple earned honorable mention honors.
Kavanagh, who was The American's Midfielder of the Year, enters the NCAA quarterfinals with 76 goals, 18 assists, 94 points, 32 ground balls, 112 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. The Tewaaraton Award candidate leads The American in both goals and points.
Trombetta, who was The American's Defensive Player of the Year, has been the top close defender on a squad that ranks third nationally with 6.8 goals-allowed per game. Also a Tewaaraton Award candidate, Trombetta entered the NCAA Championship with 28 caused turnovers.
Reznick, who won Goalkeeper of the Year honors in The American, leads all NCAA Division I goalies with a .587 save percentage and a 5.81 goals-against average, having made 142 saves and allowing 100 goals in 1,033 minutes.
Dabkowski and Taylor were both first team all-conference selections in The American.
In the fifth year of this award, ILWomen staff and contributors were asked to select four first-team, four second-team, and four third-team attackers and defenders, then three first-team, three second-team and three third-team midfielders, and finally one first-team, one second-team and one third-team draw specialist and goalkeeper. The teams were selected based on the cumulative total of votes received, with honorable mention honorees receiving more than one vote.
