IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Freeland, Fr., INF, UCF
Freeland helped lead the Knights to a 3-1 series win by hitting .500 (6-12) with six runs scored, four doubles and six runs driven in. He had at least a double, a run scored and an RBI in each of the three UCF wins.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Braden Olthoff, R-Jr., RHP, Tulane
Olthoff pitched a gem in the first game of the series against Houston, throwing 8.0 scoreless innings without a run or walk allowed while striking out 12 batters in a 3-0 Green Wave win.
HONOR ROLL
Zach Agnos, Fr., INF, East Carolina
Agnos hit .385 (5-13) with four runs scored, two doubles, a pair of home runs and eight runs driven in as the Pirates split a four-game series at Wichita State.
Gavin Williams, Jr., RHP, East Carolina
Williams tossed six scoreless innings with five hits, a pair of walks and nine strikeouts in a 4-2 series-opening win at Wichita State.
Riley Hogan, R-Jr., 1B, USF
In a four-game split with Cincinnati, Hogan hit .353 (6-17) with four runs scored, three doubles a home run and five runs batted in,
Chase Engelhard, Fr., 2B, Tulane
Engelhard hit .333 (5-15) with two runs scored, a home run and eight runs driven in as the Green Wave stayed in first place in The American’s standings with a 3-1 series win over Houston.
Chuck Ingram, Fr., OF/1B, Wichita State
Ingram hit .455 (5-11) with three runs, two home runs and four RBI as the Shockers split a four-game series with East Carolina.
