IRVING, Texas - UCF volleyball standout and reigning American Athletic Conference Player of the Year McKenna Melville was among 21 players nationally to earn 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades on Monday. Melville, a finance major with a 3.92 GPA, landed on the Academic All-America Second Team in recognition of strong athletic and academic performance last season.

Melville was the sixth different American volleyball player named to a CoSIDA Academic All-America team since 2014, and the first player so recognized from UCF in The American era. She is the third conference player to be tabbed to the second team in Academic All-America voting.

Melville joined DeLaina Sarden (2014) as UCF winners of American Player of the Year following a banner season for the league champion Knights. An AVCA All-America honorable mention choice for the third straight season, Melville led The American with 5.12 points per set and 4.55 kills per set, hitting at a .272 clip. Her kills per set average ranked 12th and her points per set average ranked 13th in the NCAA in the 2020 campaign. Melville’s 772 total attacks also led all players in the conference. She repeated as the American Volleyball Championship Most Outstanding Player after averaging 5.50 points and 5.11 kills per set in wins over Tulane and Temple, as UCF claimed its third straight conference title.
