UCF, Memphis and South Florida Earn Weekly Women's Soccer Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the first week of the regular season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Saorla Miller, Jr., M/F, Memphis
Miller started off the season in style, recording a hat trick in a 4-0 Tiger win against Southeast Missouri State on Thursday, August 19.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kimberley Smit, Sr., D, Memphis
Smit led the Tiger backline to a shutout of Southeast Missouri State in which Memphis only allowed one shot. The senior also aided in holding No. 23 Ole Miss to seven shots and one goal in a 1-1, double overtime draw on Sunday, August 23.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Caroline DeLisle, Jr., UCF
DeLisle posted a season-opening shutout against Texas on Thursday, making five saves in a 4-0 win over the Longhorns.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Madeleine Penman-Derstine, F/M, South Florida
Penman-Derstine recorded five shots in her opening weekend with the Bulls, recording the game-winning goal against in-state rival Florida on Thursday.
 
HONOR ROLL
Kristen Scott, Sr., F, UCF
Scott recorded a pair of goals in the season-opening win over Texas, including the game-winning goal 80 seconds into the match.
 
Vanessa DiNardo, Sr., F, Cincinnati
DiNardo, wearing the No. 3 jersey to honor the memory of lifelong friend and Bearcat teammate Ally Sidloski, scored the first goal of the season for Cincinnati in a 2-1 win at Northern Kentucky on Thursday.
 
Nadia Kamassah, R-Fr., F, Houston
Kamassah recorded a goal and an assist in a pair of Cougar wins. The redshirt freshman assisted on the game-winning goal against Oklahoma on Thursday before scoring the game-winning goal in overtime at McNeese.
 
Sydny Nasello, Jr., F, South Florida
Nasello opened the season by assisting on the game-winning goal against Florida and scoring the game-winning penalty in overtime against North Florida.
 
Courtney Sebazco, Sr., M, SMU
Sebazco scored both of the Mustangs’ goals in a 2-0 win over Northwestern State on Sunday.
