IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the second week of the regular season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madison Gear, So., M, Houston
Gear scored a pair of goals last week, including the equalizer in a 4-4 draw with Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, August 26 and the game-winning goal against Houston Baptist on Sunday, August 29.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Karli Royer, Gr., D, Cincinnati
Royer led the Bearcat defense that only allowed one goal from the run of play in two matches against teams receiving votes in the national polls. She played all 180 minutes and scored the game-winning goal against Virginia Tech on Sunday.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Kamryn Stablein, Jr., Temple
Stablein recorded 15 saves in a 1-1 draw with Penn on Friday night, the most saves by a goalkeeper in The American since Temple’s Morgan Basileo recorded 17 against Saint Joseph’s on August 17, 2018.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Aubrey Mister, F/M, Memphis
Mister scored the game-winning goal against Indiana on Sunday and also tallied a goal against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday.
 
HONOR ROLL
Maeve English, So., GK, East Carolina
English made nine saves in a loss to No. 16 South Carolina on Thursday before making four more in a win at High Point on Sunday.
 
Anna Reysa, Fr., F, Houston
Reysa scored a goal in both matches last week for the Cougars against Stephen F. Austin and Houston Baptist.
 
Haylee Spray, So., M/D, Memphis
Spray helped lead the Tiger defense to two shutouts last week. She played all 90 minutes in a 1-0 win against Indiana and tallied a goal against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
 
Sydny Nasello, Jr., F, South Florida
Nasello continued her scoring start to the season, tallying a goal against both LSU and Kentucky, while also assisting on the game-winning goal on Sunday against the Wildcats.
 
Liliana Fernandez, Jr., D, Tulsa
Fernandez scored a goal and added an assist in a 2-2 draw against Missouri State, while aiding the defense to a 1-0 shutout over Creighton.
