IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the fourth week of the regular season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Courtney Sebazco, Sr., M, SMU
Sebazco scored the game-winning goal against Rice on Sunday, Sept 12 and also added an assist in wins over Denver and Oklahoma State, on Monday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 9, respectively.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Payton Doiron, So., D, SMU
Doiron led the backline for the Mustangs to three wins over teams receiving votes in last week’s United Soccer Coaches national poll, including shutouts of Oklahoma State and Rice. Doiron also provided the game-winning goal against Oklahoma State.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Tatum Sutherland, R-So., SMU
Sutherland played in two shutouts for the Mustangs, stopping 10 saves against Oklahoma State and five more in a win over Rice.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Samantha Wiehe, M, Houston
Wiehe scored her first collegiate goal, which was also the game-winning goal in double overtime, against Jackson State on Sunday.
HONOR ROLL
Caroline DeLisle, Jr., GK, UCF
DeLisle made six saves in a 3-0 shutout at Ole Miss on Thursday.
Ellie Moreno, Jr., F, UCF
Moreno recorded the game-winning goal for the Knights in the win at Ole Miss.
Ariel Young, R-Fr., D, UCF
Young aided the backline in recording a shutout at Ole Miss and also scored her first collegiate goal in the win.
Vivianne Bessette, Fr., D, South Florida
Bessette played a key role in leading the Bulls’ defense to not allowing a single shot on goal in a win over Miami (Fla.) and only one goal against Florida Atlantic.
Hailey Gutowski, Jr., F, Temple
Gutowski scored a goal and added an assist in Temple’s 3-0 win over cross-town rival Saint Joseph’s on Thursday.
