IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors, for the week ending Sunday, September 12.
Offensive Player of the Week
Alessandro Campoy * 5th * F * UCF
Campoy enjoyed a sensational outing against FGCU, scoring four goals over the first 60 minutes in a 6-2 win over FGCU on Sept. 11. Campoy’s goal total was the second-most in a single match in conference history, trailing only the five goals scored by SMU’s Garrett McLaughlin on Oct. 26, 2019, against Cincinnati. Campoy scored on four of his five shots on goal in the match, converting at 4:12, 26:23, 42:23 and 60:12 to help provide the Knights with a 6-1 lead.
Defensive Player of the Week
Til Zinnhardt * Jr. * D * Tulsa
Zinnhardt played a key role in two Tulsa victories against No. 13/10 Marquette (1-0 on Sept. 6) and Michigan State (5-1 on Sept. 11) last week, helping the Golden Hurricane limit opponents to just seven shots on goal over 180 minutes of action. Zinnhardt also was credited with an assist on the fourth Tulsa goal in the win over Michigan State.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Alex Lopez * Fr. * GK * Tulsa
Lopez copped top conference goalkeeper honors for the second straight week after picking up two victories against No. 13/10 Marquette (Sept. 6) and Michigan State (Sept. 11) for 5-0 Tulsa. Lopez turned aside three shots in a 1-0 shutout of Marquette and added three stops in a 5-1 drubbing of Michigan State.
Rookie of the Week
Andres Freire * Fr. * F * South Florida
Freire scored his first two career goals in a 3-1 win over Stetson on Sept. 10, bagging a brace on six total shot attempts (three on goal) in a 3-1 win for South Florida. Freire notched the match-winner at 40:36 and chipped in an insurance goal for the Bulls at 50:45 to make it a 3-0 contest.

Registered first two career points in 6-2 win over FGCU; logged the primary assist on the third and fourth Knight goals over a seven-minute span in the first half

Made a total of seven saves for SMU in a pair of 1-1 draws with Denver (Sept. 6) and No. 23/25 Saint Louis (Sept. 10); stopped two shots in the Denver match and turned aside five shots to tie Saint Louis

Anchored the SMU back line in 1-1 draws against Denver and No. 23/25 Saint Louis last week; the Mustangs limited opponents to just nine total shots on frame over 220 minutes of match play

Turned in six saves in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in double overtime against Villanova on Sept. 11; made three saves in the first half and added three stops in the second half
