IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer honors, for the week ending Sunday, September 19.
Offensive Player of the Week
Lucca Dourado * So. * F * UCF
Dourado moved into the second position nationally with a conference-high seven goals this season after tallying a pair of goals in a 4-1 UCF win at Memphis on Sept. 18. Dourado scored on both of his shots on goal in the contest, attempting three total shots in 87 minutes of play. Dourado notched the match-winner at 16:06 on an unassisted goal to put UCF in front 2-0, later adding the third Knights goal on an assist from Nick Taylor to push the UCF advantage to 3-1.
Defensive Player of the Week
Anderson Rosa * So. * D * UCF
Rosa scored the opening UCF goal and helped limit Memphis to five shots on goal over 90 minutes in a 4-1 win. Rosa deposited a Nick Taylor assist into the back of the net at 10:29, vaulting UCF into a 1-0 lead early on the road against the Tigers.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Tyler Lavigne * R-Fr. * GK * UCF
Lavigne made four saves and yielded just one goal in a dominant 4-1 showing for UCF at Memphis. Lavigne registered three saves during a spotless first half and added a stop in the second half to help preserve the lead for the Knights.
Weekly Honor Roll
Papa Ndoye * Jr. * F * SMU
Scored two goals on a match-high six shots (four shots on goal) in just 57 minutes in a 4-1 win at Temple on Sept. 18; recorded goals at 20:17 and 88:18
Gabriel Costa * Sr. * M * SMU
Picked up the primary assist on all four SMU goals in a 4-1 victory to open conference play at Temple; moved into second nationally in assists on the season with five as of Sept. 20, trailing only UCF’s Nick Taylor (6)
Gabrielle Privitera * Jr. * M * South Florida
Notched first two career goals for South Florida in a 5-2 setback against No. 10/9 Tulsa on Sept. 18; scored at 33:05 and 60:21 to put the Bulls on the board
Nigel Griffith * Fr. * F * Temple
Scored the lone Temple goal in a 4-1 loss to No. 18/13 SMU; finished his second shot of the match at 59:57 to pull the Owls within one goal at 2-1
Alex Meinhard * So. * F * Tulsa
Part of a balanced attack from No. 10/9 Tulsa that saw five different players score in a 5-2 victory at South Florida; opened the Golden Hurricane scoring at the 4:04 mark and served the primary assist on the second Tulsa goal at 20:27
