IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the third week of the regular season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kristen Scott, Sr., F, UCF
Scott scored both goals in the Knights’ 2-1 victory over No. 7 Penn State Sunday night, Sept. 5. The senior scored in the 26
th minute to give the Knights a lead and in the 62
nd minute to break a 1-1 tie. It was UCF’s first top-10 win since 2017.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kim Sanford, Gr., D, East Carolina
Sanford led the Pirate defense that only allowed three shots on goal over shutout wins over Campbell and VCU. In addition, Sanford tallied the game-winning goal in both matches.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Mikaela Gracia, R-Fr., Houston
Gracia recorded two clean sheets in a pair of wins for the Cougars over Louisiana and Lamar. The redshirt freshman made eight saves for the week.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Paige Miller, F, Cincinnati
Miller recorded five points over two wins last week. The forward recorded a goal in each match against Ball State and Eastern Illinois, while also adding an assist against Eastern Illinois.
HONOR ROLL
Karli Royer, Gr., D, Cincinnati
Royer scored the game-winning goals against Ball State and Eastern Illinois, including a goal from over 30 yards out on the volley against Ball State.
Nadia Kamassah, R-Fr., F, Houston
Kamassah scored a pair of goals last week, scoring the game-winners against Lamar and Louisiana.
Tanya Boychuk, Sr., M/F, Memphis
Boychuk recorded a brace, including the game-winner, against Alabama on Sunday.
Haylee Spray, So., M/D, Memphis
Spray helped lead the Tiger backline that shutout Kansas, 1-0, on Thursday, Sept 2, and limited Alabama to three shots on goal on Sunday.
Isold Runarsdottir, Jr., M, Tulsa
Runarsdottir provided the goal that sent the match against Central Arkansas into overtime, where the Golden Hurricane went on to win, 4-3, and added a goal and an assist in a win over Kansas City on Sunday.
