IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly men’s and women’s tennis honors for the week-ending January 24.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Laia Conde Monfort • Jr. • Tulsa • Castellón, Spain
Monfort, who is rated No. 91 in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings, won her first three singles matches, all in straight sets at the No. 1 position, and went 4-0 in doubles play to stake the Golden Hurricane to a 4-0 start to the dual match season. Monfort was a 7-6 (3), 6-3 winner in a 7-0 victory against Louisiana Tech, a 6-4, 6-2 winner in a 6-1 decision against Wyoming and capped the week with a 6-3, 7-5 win against the No. 105-ranked player from Kansas in a 5-2 victory against the Jayhawks.
