IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the ninth week of the 2022 season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kristen Scott, Sr., F, UCF
Scott scored four goals last week. The senior scored a brace in a 4-0 win over Cincinnati on Thursday before recording a pair of goals in a 3-2 road win at Tulsa.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Haylee Spray, Jr., D/M, Memphis
Spray helped the Tiger backline record a 2-0 shutout against Temple on Sunday while only allowing one shot on goal. The junior also scored the second Memphis goal.
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Caroline DeLisle, R-Sr., UCF
DeLisle recorded five saves over two UCF wins last week. She had two saves in a clean sheet against Cincinnati and made three more saves in a win over Tulsa.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Haizea Aretxabala Blanco, F, South Florida
Blanco scored the game-winning goal from a tight angle in the 81st minute against East Carolina on Sunday.
HONOR ROLL
Emma Schmelzer, So., M, Cincinnati
Schmelzer scored Cincinnati’s opening goal in a 2-2 draw at SMU on Sunday.
Mya Jones, Sr., F, Memphis
Jones scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers in the 14th minute of a 2-0 win over Temple on Sunday.
Lucy Roberts, Jr., D, South Florida
Roberts converted a penalty in the 55th minute to tie the match in a 2-1 win for South Florida over East Carolina.
Courtney Sebazco, Gr., M, SMU
Sebazco stepped up and converted an 87th-minute penalty as SMU drew with Cincinnati, 2-2.
Kyla Burns, So., GK, Temple
Burns recorded nine saves as the Owls played Memphis on Sunday.
