IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, October 16.
Offensive Player of the Week
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
Melville continued her impressive season, winning her fourth Offensive Player of the Week award. She averaged 6.83 points per set, 6.17 kills per set and hit .516 in two conference sweeps for UCF. Melville reached 1,500 career digs as well during the sweep over East Carolina.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kate Georgiades, Jr., L, Houston
Georgiades made it nearly impossible to score as the libero finished with 7.17 digs per set for the Cougars. She had 16 digs against SMU before finishing the weekend with 27 at Memphis – the third most digs in a three-set match in program history.
Weekly Honor Roll
Abby Hansen, Gr., MB, UCF
Hansen finished with 10 total blocks (1.67 blocks/set) in two sweeps for UCF. She also added 2.67 kills per set while hitting .652.
Payton Frederick, Sr., L, Cincinnati
Frederick anchored the Bearcats defense, finishing with 5.63 digs per set. She had 18 digs against Wichita State and 27 against Tulsa.
London Austin-Roark, Gr., MB, SMU
Austin-Roark tied the SMU record for blocks in a three-set match, recording 10 blocks against Tulane. She finished the weekend averaging 2.33 blocks per set.
Natalie Foster, So., MB, Wichita State
Foster averaged 4.67 points per set while hitting .320 in two matches. The middle blocker added 1.22 blocks per set on the defensive side.
Lily Liekweg, Jr., L, Wichita State
Liekweg had two matches with twenty or more digs, averaging 5.89 digs per set. She had 33 digs against Tulsa and 20 against Cincinnati. Liekweg added six aces in the two matches.
