Cincinnati's Gingerich, Tulane's Bernat and Houston's Svedenskiold Named American Golf Players of the Month for October

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of league's monthly golf honors for the competition month ending Monday, October 31.
 
Men's Golf Players of the Month
Ty Gingerich, Jr. - Cincinnati
Gingerich finished a combined 20-under par in two October tournaments with a 68.67 stroke average.  He finished in third place at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Championship where he shot 11-under and helped the Bearcats win the team title while posting school records of 834 and 30-under par.  He followed that up with a ninth-place finish at the Quail Valley Invitational where he shot 9-under par.  Gingerich is currently the highest ranking American Athletic Conference golfer in Golfstat, coming in at No. 70.
 
Women's Golf Players of the Month
Moa Svedenskiold, Fr. - Houston
Svedenskiold took home two top-six finishes in the month of October, including a first-place finish at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos. While in San Marcos, she shot 8-under and became the first Houston freshman to earn medalist honors in program history.  Four days later, she competed in the competitive field at Battle at the Beach which featured six ranked opponents and finished in sixth place, shooting 3-under at the course.

Carla Bernat, So. - Tulane
Bernat took home two first-place finishes in the month of October and shot a combined 11-under par in three tournament appearances. She won her first title as a collegiate golfer at the Ron Moore Invitational shooting 10-under (71-68-67) in the tournament. She followed that up with another win at the Jim West Challenge where she shot 8-under and set a new career low of 65 in the final round. Bernat wrapped up October at the Marilyn Smith/Sunflower Invitational with a 9th place finish and was just five strokes off from the winner.
