The Tulane Green Wave, which is off to a 7-1 start, made its first appearance in the College Football Playoff rankings, highlighting two American Athletic Conference teams in the CFP Committee's initial rankings for the 2022 season.

Tulane was ranked No. 19 in the first ranking, while UCF - which is no stranger to the CFP list - checked in at No. 25.



The CFP rankings mirrored the Associated Press and coaches' polls for both American Athletic Conference teams.

The two teams in the first poll of the 2022 season mark the fifth time that the American Athlletic Conference has had two teams in the first CFP rankings of a season. The American has gone on to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff or New Year's Six bowls six times in the first eight years of the CFP system.
