South Florida Sweeps First Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, November 13.
 
Player of the Week
Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu, R-Sr., F, South Florida
Ducly Fankam Mendjiadeu started off the season scorching hot. The redshirt senior averaged 21 points and nine rebounds across three games for the Bulls. She scored 26 points against Florida A&M (Nov. 11), while having double-double performances against Morehead State (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Jacksonville (25 points, 10 rebounds).
 
Freshman of the Week
Carla Brito, Fr., W, South Florida
Brito averaged 10.7 points per game across three wins for the Bulls to open the season. In the season opener against Morehead State, she had 14 points, tied for the freshman lead for points in a game. She followed that up with another double-digit point performance, scoring 11 points and grabbing six rebounds against Florida A&M.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Madison Griggs, Sr., G, Memphis
Griggs averaged 18 points per game to open the season for the Tigers, scoring 18 points against both Columbia (Nov. 7) and Howard (Nov. 12).

Chantae Embry, So., F, SMU
Embry averaged 18.00 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Mustangs.  The Norman, Okla. Native scored 20 points and grabbed four rebounds in her return home against No. 15/16 Oklahoma (Nov. 11).

Tiarra East, So., G, Temple
East started the season with a double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) against No. 24/25 Princeton (Nov. 7). She went on to score 14 points and grab seven boards against Georgetown (Nov. 12).
 
Marta Galic, Gr., G, Tulane
Galic had a double-double to begin the season (19 points, 10 rebounds) against Grambling State (Nov. 7), shooting 5-for-8 (.625) from behind the arc in the win.
 
Temira Poindexter, So., F, Tulsa
Poindexter averaged 17.5 points and five rebounds per game in the two Golden Hurricane wins. She began the season with 16 points against Alcorn (Nov. 7) and followed up with a 19-point performance against (RV) San Jose State.
