South Florida's Tsineke, Brito Earn Women's Basketball Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 20.
 
Player of the Week
Elena Tsineke, Sr., G, South Florida
Tsineke helped lead the Bulls to two wins over Alabama and TCU, averaging 21.5 points per game. She dropped 22 points on 9-of-17 from the field, while dishing out four assists against Alabama.  She scored another 21 points against TCU on 6-of-16 shooting.
 
Freshman of the Week
Carla Brito, Fr., W, South Florida
Brito finished with 7.5 points per game and 10 rebounds per game in the two wins for South Florida. In the win against TCU, the freshman had a double-double as she scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting while grabbing ten boards.  She also had ten rebounds against the Crimson Tide.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Danae McNeal, Sr., G, East Carolina
McNeal did a little bit of everything for the Pirates, averaging 18 points, three assists, five rebounds and 4.5 steals per game in wins over High Point and Charleston Southern.
 
Tatyana Hill, Gr., F, Houston
Hill averaged a double-double on the week, scoring 11 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.  She also added four steals per game.
 
Kyren Whittington, R-So., G, Tulane
Whittington scored 21 points per game, leading the Green Wave to wins over South Alabama and Sam Houston, while shooting .667 percent from the field.
 
Temira Poindexter, So., F, Tulsa
Poindexter scored over 20 points in both games last week, dropping 21 against Arkansas before scoring 22 against Oral Roberts. She also added 8 rebounds against ORU.
 
DJ McCarty, Jr., G, Wichita State
McCarty was active on both ends for the Shockers, scoring 16 points per game and stealing three balls per game in wins against Oral Roberts and North Texas.
