IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the third week of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendric Davis, Sr., G, Memphis
Davis led the Tigers to two wins at the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando by averaging 19.0 points, 5.3 assists and 2.3 steals in three games. Against Seton Hall on Thanksgiving Day, the senior recorded 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists before dropping 21 points and seven assists in a win over Nebraska on Friday.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Taylor Hendricks, G, UCF
Hendricks averaged 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in a pair of games for the Knights last week. Against Evansville on Tuesday, the freshman had 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
HONOR ROLL
Javon Small, So., G, East Carolina
Small averaged 20.5 points through four games last week, including an 18-point, 6-assist and 6-rebound game against UT Arlington.
J’Wan Roberts, R-Jr., F, Houston
Roberts recorded 11 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks in a win over Kent State on Saturday.
Selton Miguel, So., G, South Florida
Miguel averaged 15.0 points, 5.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds as the Bulls went 2-1 last week.
Zhuric Phelps, So., G, SMU
Phelps averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in a pair of games for the Mustangs.
Craig Porter Jr, Sr., G, Wichita State
Porter helped lead the Shockers to a 2-1 week by averaging 13.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.7 blocks.
