South Florida's Puisis, SMU's Smith, Tulsa's Young Claim Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, December 4.
 
Players of the Week
Sammie Puisis, Jr., G, South Florida
Puisis was instrumental in the Bulls win over No. 22/18 Texas in Austin. The junior transfer scored 25 points on 10-of-19 from the field, including five from behind the arc. Puisis added four rebounds in the win as the Bulls captured the first ranked win in The American this season.
 
Jasmine Smith, Gr., G, SMU
Smith helped lead the Mustangs to a 3-0 weekend, averaging 17.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and four assists per game in wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Gardner-Webb and Cal. She was named MVP of the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational in Berkeley, California, shooting 61 percent from the field in the tournament.
 
Freshman of the Week
Ahrray Young, Fr., G, Tulsa
Young helped lead the Golden Hurricane to a 2-0 week with wins over Duquesne and Lindenwood. She reached double-figures in both games, including 12 points against Lindenwood. She has now scored in double-figures in four of the last five outings.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Jillian Hayes, Jr., F, Cincinnati
Hayes averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against North Carolina A&T and UIC. Against UIC, Hayes scored 20 points and dished out five assists.
 
Aleah Nelson, Jr., G, Temple
Nelson averaged 15 points and 4.5 assists for the Owls. In the win over UMBC, Nelson scored 14 points and had seven assists.
 
Dynah Jones, Gr., G, Tulane
Jones scored a season-high 25 points against No. 11/12 LSU. On the week, the guard averaged 21 points, three assists and 2.5 rebounds.
 
Jessika Evans, Jr., F, Tulsa
Evans averaged a double-double, scoring 14.5 points and grabbing 10.5 rebounds per game in wins over Duquesne and Lindenwood.
 
DJ McCarty, Jr., G, Wichita State
McCarty averaged 18 points and five assists per game in wins over Denver and New Orleans. She was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field against Pioneers.
