PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (4-5, 0-0 American) won its second straight game Monday night, taking down the La Salle explorers 70-56. Tiarra East led the charge for Temple. The wing scored a career-best 25 alongside nine rebounds. Her 25 points are the most of any Owl this season.
 
Temple rolled in the first five minutes, jumping out an early 10-5 lead for the second straight game. The Owls kept rolling extending the lead to 21-10 as the period expired. TU contributed from all areas, five different players scored, with Jasha Clinton taking the lead with six points.

In a very stop-and-go quarter in the second, The Owls bench contributed 8 of the 12 points. Redshirt Junior, Brittany Garner led the scoring for the Owls after 4 points on layups within the first two minutes. Despite being 2 for 6 from the foul line, The Owls outscored the La Salle 12-11. Temple's defense accounted for 12 rebounds, with Clinton, Caranda Perera, and Ines Piper contributing for half of the teams boards in the quarter. 
 
La Salle opened the third quarter with two made three-point shots, capping a 9-0 run from the end of the first half.  East led the physical charge for the Owls with 8 points behind a turnover and steal. La Salle outscored the Owls 23-17 in the third. Temple had the most fouls of any period of the game with five.
 
La Salle opened the fourth quarter scoring five straight behind a three-pointer and basket, tying the game at 50. Prompting a quick Temple response with East taking charge with seven points to open the quarter for the Owls.  East led the end of game surge for the Owls, preventing a La Salle lead with 11 points in the quarter, As the Owls responded by outscoring La Salle 20-11 in the quarter.
 
East had far and away the best game of her career. The Lousiville native scored a career-high 25 points, controlled nine boards, tied her career-high with four assists, and set another career-high with five steals.

Clinton picked her second career double-double with 12 points and a game-high ten rebounds.

Piper had another solid performance, scoring six points and rebounding for nine. This is her second straight game with nine rebounds.

Temple tied its season-high in rebounds (46). The Owls bench had a season-high 37 points.
