Houston Falls in NCAA Volleyball Regional Semifinals to No. 1 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – American Athletic Conference champion Houston lost in the NCAA Volleyball Championship Regional Semifinals on Thursday, losing to No. 1 seed Stanford in straight sets 24-26, 18-25, 17-25. The Cougars end the season with 30 wins, the most wins in a season by an American team.
 
Houston (30-4, 19-1 American) recorded its first 30-win season in program history while making the first NCAA Volleyball Championship appearance since 2000.
 
The Cougars began the match strong, hitting over .300 through the first 20 points of the match, leading the Cardinal 21-12. However, a 10-1 run would even the first set and shift the momentum to Stanford.
 
The Cougars hit .238 on the match, but were unable to slow the Stanford attack as the Cardinal hit .371 over the three sets.
 
Isabel Theut led Houston with 9 kills while hitting .286. Kellen Morin had an impressive night at the net, totaling four blocks in the match.
