Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis And Tulsa Athletes Earn Week Three Indoor Track And Field Awards

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track and field honors, for the competition week ending Sunday, January 30.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Isaac Akers * Jr. * Tulsa
Akers turned in a runner-up effort in the men’s mile for Tulsa at the Washburn Open on Jan. 28-29. Akers nearly broke the four-minute mark with a time of 4:00.85 to take second place. Akers’ time led The American in the mile this season as of Feb. 1.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Cole Riddle * Sr. * Memphis
Riddle opened his Memphis career with an event victory in the pole vault at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 29. Riddle cleared 5.36m (17-7.0) to claim his first vault win since transferring to the Tigers program. Riddle’s mark was tied for the lead in The American and ranked 14th in the nation as of Feb. 1.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Ellie Leather * Sr. * Cincinnati
Leather established a Cincinnati school record in the mile during the PMC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 29. Leather logged a PR time of 4:36.83 to take the win at the meet by nearly four full seconds. Leather’s mile time paced The American and was 13th in the NCAA this season as of Feb. 1.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Nu’uausala Tuilefano * Jr. * Houston
Tuilefano earned a second shot put win for Houston this season by pacing the field at the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational on Jan. 28-29. Tuilefano covered 17.10m (56-1.25) on the sixth and final throw to take the event victory. Tuilefano is the conference leader in the shot put this season and ranked seventh nationally as of Feb. 1.
