SMU's Weathers, Memphis' Duren Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the 14th week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marcus Weathers, Sr., F, SMU
Weathers helped push the Mustangs into first place in the American Athletic Conference standings with wins over Houston and East Carolina by averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. In the win over the Cougars on Wednesday, February 9, the senior had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jalen Duren, C, Memphis
Duren averaged a double-double with 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Tigers, who moved up to third place in the conference standings. The freshman center shot 78.6 percent from the field on 11-of-14 shooting.
 
HONOR ROLL
Brandon Mahan, R-Sr., G, UCF
Mahan posted 19 points and nine rebounds in the Knights’ win over Wichita State on Tuesday, February 8.
 
David DeJulius, Sr., G, Cincinnati
DeJulius averaged 23.5 points and 2.5 assists as the Bearcats went 1-1 last week.
 
DeAndre Williams, Sr., F, Memphis
Williams helped lead the Tigers to a 2-0 week by averaging 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds.
 
Jaylen Forbes, So., G, Tulane
Forbes led the Green Wave to a 1-1 week by averaging 24.5 points and 8.0 rebounds. He made a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to tie the game against Temple on Saturday.
 
Craig Porter Jr., Jr., G, Wichita State
Porter averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a 1-1 week for the Shockers.
