UCF's Litchfield, McCabe Earn First Baseball Weekly Honors of Season

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the first week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ben McCabe, R-Jr., C, UCF
McCabe aided the Knights to a season-opening sweep of Siena by hitting .750 with seven runs scored, two home runs and six runs driven in. The redshirt junior had two hits each in all three games, including a 3-run home run in the series finale on Sunday.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
David Litchfield, R-Sr., UCF
Litchfield started the season-opening contest for UCF against Siena on Friday, Feb. 18 and tossed six scoreless innings. The redshirt senior struck out eight batters while only allowing two hits and no walks on just 77 pitches.
 
HONOR ROLL
Paul Komistek, R-Jr., OF, Cincinnati
Komistek hit .500 with 10 hits, six runs scored, two home runs and six RBI as the Bearcats split a four-game series at FGCU. In the second game of the series, he went 5-for-6.
 
Ian Bibiloni, R-Sr., OF, Memphis
Bibiloni went .500 for the week with six hits, three runs, a home run and four RBI as the Tigers took 2-of-3 in their season-opening series against Valparaiso.
 
Connor Shamblin, Jr., P, Memphis
Shamblin recorded six scoreless innings with one hit allowed, one walk and seven strikeouts in a 13-0 win over Valparaiso.
 
Luis Aviles, R-Sr., C/INF, Tulane
Aviles helped lead the Green Wave to a season-opening sweep of UMass Lowell by hitting .417 with five hits, a run scored and five runs driven in.
 
Dylan Carmouche, So., P, Tulane
Carmouche started his season off with six scoreless innings with four hits allowed, two walks and seven strikeouts in an 11-0 win over UMass Lowell.
