Houston's White, Memphis' Duren Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the penultimate week of the regular season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Fabian White Jr, Gr., F, Houston
White helped lead Houston to a pair of wins by averaging 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 blocks. He recorded 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in the Cougars’ win over SMU and added 12 points and three blocks in a road win at Tulane.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jalen Duren, C, Memphis
Duren averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks as the Tigers went 2-0 last week. The freshman scored 22 points as Memphis defeated Temple Thursday night, Feb. 24 and added 13 points in a win over Wichita State on Sunday.
 
HONOR ROLL
Tristen Newton, So., G, East Carolina
Newton averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 assists as the Pirates took down South Florida on Wednesday, Feb. 23 and Tulsa on Saturday, Feb. 26.
 
Landers Nolley II, R-Jr., G, Memphis
Nolley shot 64.7 percent from the field and recorded an average of 17.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in the Tigers’ 2-0 week.
 
Russel Tchewa, R-So., C, South Florida
Tchewa averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bulls. He scored the game-winning bucket with no time remaining against Cincinnati on Saturday.
 
Kendric Davis, Sr., G, SMU
Davis averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 assists in games against Tulsa and Houston.
 
Jahlil White, Fr., G, Temple
White averaged 15.0 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Owls fell at Memphis on Thursday and defeated Tulane on Sunday.
