Tulane's Groff, UCF's Patteson Earn Weekly Baseball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the second week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ethan Groff, R-So., OF, Tulane
Groff helped lead the Green Wave to a series win at No. 15 Louisiana Tech and a mid-week victory at Nicholls by hitting .417 (5-12) with six runs scored, three extra-base hits and four runs driven in. The redshirt sophomore scored a pair of runs in both wins over Louisiana Tech.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Patteson, R-So., UCF
Patteson tossed a gem to help the Knights secure a win in the series decider at Georgia Southern on Sunday, Feb. 28, by throwing seven scoreless innings. The redshirt sophomore only allowed two hits and recorded 10 strikeouts with no walks.
 
HONOR ROLL
Gephry Pena, R-Jr., OF, UCF
Pena aided the Knights to go 3-1 last week by hitting .438 (7-16) with four runs scored, two home runs and five runs driven in.
 
Anthony Tulimero, R-So., C, Houston
Tulimero hit .389 (7-18) with five runs scored, two doubles and three RBI as the Cougars defeated Texas Southern and earned a 2-game sweep of UTRGV.
 
Connor Shamblin, Jr., P, Memphis
Shamblin struck 12 Brown batters and only gave up one hit with no walks in six scoreless innings in an 8-1 win.
 
Carmine Lane, R-So., INF, South Florida
Lane led the Bulls to a 3-game sweep of Stony Brook by hitting .583 (7-12) with two runs scored, one home run and five runs driven in.
 
Dylan Carmouche, So., P, Tulane
Carmouche helped the Green Wave take down No. 15 Louisiana Tech, 4-1, in the first game on Sunday by pitching seven innings, with four hits and one run allowed. He struck out four batters and did not issue a walk.
