UCF’s Macario, South Florida’s Corrick Named Award Winners For Softball Week Three

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, February 27.
 
Player of the Week
Micaela Macario * Fr. * IF * UCF
Macario batted .462 for UCF in a 4-1 week, ripping three doubles while driving in 10 runs and scoring five times for the Knights. Macario went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a stolen base in a 6-3 victory against Ole Miss on Feb. 25. Macario then reached base in all three plate appearances in an 11-0 run-rule victory over James Madison on Feb. 26, roping two doubles and logging six RBI for the Knights. Macario scored a pair of runs during a wild 12-11 showdown against No. 4 Florida on Feb. 27.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Corrick continued a red-hot start to the season with another near flawless weekend for South Florida, logging a 3-0 record in four appearances (three starts) at the USF Tournament. Opponents batted just .091 against Corrick (six hits in 21.0 innings), as the right-hander issued just one walk and struck out 29 hitters. Corrick spun a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts in five innings against Fairfield on Feb. 25 and combined to allow just five hits and strike out 20 batters in consecutive shutouts versus St. John’s on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27.

Went 1-0 without allowing a run in two appearances for UCF during the Knights Classic; tossed a two-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts in a win over James Madison (Feb. 26) and punched out three batters in 1.1 innings of relief against No. 4 Florida (Feb. 27)
 
Madisyn Davis * So. * RHP * East Carolina
Registered a 2-0 record and 0.60 ERA in three appearances (one start) during the East Carolina Pirate Invitational; went four solid innings with just four combined hits and one total run allowed on back-to-back days against Farleigh Dickinson (Feb. 25) and Gardner-Webb (Feb. 26)
 
Bethany Busch * Sr. * OF * Houston
Batted a team-high .533 with four extra-base hits, two RBI and four runs over five games at the Houston Tournament; went 3-for-4 with a triple, stolen base and two runs in opening win against Northern Colorado (Feb. 25)

Gracie Morton * Sr. * OF * Memphis
Led Memphis with a .533 batting average in a 2-2 weekend in tournament play at McNeese State; registered consecutive 3-for-4 outings in wins over UT Arlington (Feb. 25) and Manhattan College (Feb. 26)

Zoe Jones * Jr. * IF * Wichita State
Hit at a .400 clip with an RBI and seven total runs for Wichita State during a 3-1 stop at the Charlotte Niner Invitational; scored two runs each against Northern Iowa (Feb. 25) and Charlotte (Feb. 25 and Feb. 26)
