IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, March 13.
Player of the Week
Becca Schulte * Grad * IF * Houston
Schulte was a force for 4-1 Houston last week, batting .500 with three home runs, eight RBI, a 1.214 slugging percentage, two stolen bases and seven runs for the Cougars. Schulte finished with at least one hit in all five games and scored at least one run in each start on the week. Schulte drove in two runs and scored a run during game one of a doubleheader against Boise State (March 10). Schulte then homered in three straight games in a series sweep of Northwestern State (March 12-13), driving in three with two runs scored in game one and adding a pair of RBI and two runs in game three against the Demons.
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Corrick set a conference record with a fifth straight league pitcher of the week honor in the same season, breaking a tie of four straight weeks with UCF’s Shelby Turnier (March 23-April 13, 2015) and Tulsa’s Emily Watson (April 10-May 1, 2017). Corrick motored along with a 4-0 record in four appearances (three starts), scattering three hits and issuing two walks while striking out 42 batters in 23.2 innings. Corrick spun a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Army (March 11), went eight innings and allowed one hit with two walks and 12 strikeouts to beat Stony Brook (March 12) and finished the week with a one-hitter and seven strikeouts in five innings against UMass (March 13). Corrick is 17-0 with a 0.06 ERA, a .094 batting average against and 169 strikeouts over 111.0 innings pitched thus far in 2022 as of March 14. Her active streak of 81.1 straight scoreless innings pitched is the eighth-longest streak in the history of Division I softball.

Batted .429 with three home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in a 7-0 UCF week; homered twice and drove in five runs in a win at Cal State Fullerton (March 12)
Gianna Mancha * Sr. *RHP * UCF
Posted a 4-0 record with one save, a 1.48 ERA and 31 strikeouts in six appearances (three starts) for UCF; threw a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts against Boston University (March 11) and punched out seven batters against Cal State Fullerton (March 12)
Sydney Yoder * So. * OF * East Carolina
Hit at a .625 clip with five RBI and seven runs scored in a 3-0 East Carolina weekend; drove in two runs and scored three times against Rider (March 11) and added two RBI and a pair of runs later in the day against Bryant (March 11)
Rylee Keith * R-So. * C * Tulsa
Batted .455 with a home run, three RBI and three runs during the week for Tulsa; finished a triple short of the cycle with a 3-for-3 day and two runs scored against Corpus Christi (March 12)
Lauren Mills * Jr. * 1B * Wichita State
Went 4-for-4 with three home runs and six RBI in a 1-1 Wichita State weekend; hammered two home runs and drove in five RBI against Southeast Missouri State (March 13)
